Dear members of LCCC,
Trust you are all well.
We are pleased to announce we will resume church services starting Sunday 23rd August. The 8:30am and the 10:00am services will still operate in accordance with the COVID-19 restrictions. However, it will be great to meet together again.
The question may be asked, “So why did we have to close again?” Please let me explain. As mentioned in the previous notification, Springwood where our church is located, was declared a COVID-19 hotspot due to people travelling from Victoria to our suburb testing positive with COVID-19. A warning was issued by the Queensland Health Officer for all residents and businesses including places of worship to exercise due care.
When this was brought to our attention, our first response was to ensure the safety and well being of church members. The sudden news of this caught us all by surprise as we had considered we were well on our way to getting back to normal. We were left with very little time to act and to provide suitable notice for church members. While we are not moved by fear, a situation as such required a sensible and wise response.
We understand the decision to temporarily close may have caused confusion as many other churches in SEQ have kept running. The reason being is that they are not in a declared COVID-19 hotspot, therefore there was little or no risk to the safety of their church members. If we were not in a COVID-19 hotspot, we too would have continued holding church services. It was very unfortunate for us to say the least.
I must say, within the 26 years of being in ministry, pastoring a church in recent times, has proven to be the most challenging.
Much counsel has been sought from fathers in the faith as to how to pastor a church during the COVID-19 pandemic. A common statement has been made by all from whom I seek Godly counsel…”No one has ever pastored a church in times like this before”. That being said, we believe God gives us wisdom to navigate through times as such.
Our return to church gatherings on Sunday 23rd August follows the careful monitoring of the designated isolation period. Thankfully to date there have been zero cases of COVID-19 transmission. This is great news. Therefore, it gives us great confidence to recommence church services, whilst continuing to provide a safe environment for us to worship God together.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused, however we thank everyone for their understanding and unfailing support during this time.
So, with all that being said, there will be no church services this Sunday, but all midweek meetings will resume from Monday 17th August.
Sunday morning worship services will recommence on Sunday 23rd August.
May God bless you all.
